How MoniTown protects my dataEach building corresponds to a spending category: groceries, housing, transport… When you record an expense, it's added to that category's building. So several purchases in "Groceries" grow the same market.
No. You can record your expenses without setting an amount ahead of time. The building then shows the sum spent. If you set a budget for that category, MoniTown can also show the share used and any overage.
Yes. MoniTown is currently free and ad-free. No payment or subscription is needed to use it. The app is in beta: it already works and keeps evolving.
No. Without an account, you can track your budget on the device you use. Your budget data is saved in your browser.
An account lets you sync your data across devices, use online backup, and share your budget with up to three other people in your household.
Yes, after a first load with an internet connection. You can then check your budget and record expenses offline. Syncing across devices and online backup require a connection.
You can use MoniTown in your browser or add it to your home screen.
Yes. MoniTown displays amounts in CFP francs (XPF) by default, with no cents. The euro and the dollar are also available in settings. No exchange rate is applied: the number stays the same, written in the new currency. When switching to a currency without cents, like the franc, cents are rounded.
Without an account: before switching devices, open Settings → Backup and export your data to a file. Then import that file into MoniTown on the new device.
With an account: sign in to the same account to find data already synced.
Before erasing the old phone, check that your data is indeed present on the new one.
